I’m honestly a terrible diver.
I never did learn the art of gracefully entering the water, back arched and arms extended. Eyes closed, toes gripping the edge. Mine always looked more like an awkward flop, a desperate leap.
In the end, we all let go. Water splashing, soaking and enveloping us, we bobbed around like so many happy corks in a big round barrel!
And all the ways we leave the edge, flailing or artful, I don’t think matter. When the sun radiates hot, and we move from one foot to the other to avoid the scorch of the pavement, it’s the getting in that’s important. Someone gives the invitation “Go ahead, dive in!” There are all manner of entries and all of them are right…
It’s not in how we get in… it’s in the being there.
And I can’t help but think that’s how it is when we’re invited into Love. When the God of the universe invites us to discover the depths of His enveloping, soaking, unending love. The response does not have to be perfect or well rehearsed. It can be awkward and tentative… He understands.
It’s the letting go that’s important.
Dive in!
(whatever that may look like)
Jump
(even if it seems like an awkward leap)
and know the covering, buoyant, grace-filled, belonging waves of a Love that changes everything!
I hope your weekend is full of splashes of Joy, and overwhelming waves of Love!
Have a Fabulous Friday!

I so loved this part – “It’s not in how we get in… it’s in the being there.” Oh yes…trying to hold onto this! Great post.

love this!
Lovely!
Great post.
So much grace here in these words. This is lovely. The photo makes me think of all the hot days spent at a pool at Myrtle Beach. Nice memory to have on a cool, foggy January day. Thank you for the warm thoughts, too.
I really enjoyed this post. I was the one with the awkward, timid response. Now I know that fact that I responded at all is what’s important.
